You can dye your faded clothes and make them reusable by dyeing them. In this article, we want to give an answer to this question: how is fabric and jeans dyeing done by hand? Because, thanks to this technique, you can make your outfit wearable again.

Dark colored fabrics begin to lose their color due to sun rays or environmental factors. Therefore, aging or fading colors will cause the clothes to look ugly and also eliminate the desire to be worn. Fabric dyes prevent this situation and transform the fabric you want to dye into its original state. For this, you need to know how to do it and what colors you should use when dyeing fabric.

Fabric dye will be much more permanent when used with color stabilizer. For this reason, we recommend that you purchase a fabric dye stabilizer in your fabric dye order.

After obtaining your dye, you can now move on to adjusting your materials. Since you will be dyeing at home, it will be useful to be careful and take precautions so that the paint does not splash around. For this reason, it will be useful to lay nylon or newspaper papers on the place where you paint your fabric.

You can use a single color in the fabric dyeing process. Different colors and patterns can be used in some fabric dyeing techniques, but these are applications that require special skill.

How to Dye Fabric by Hand?

It is possible to dye the fabric you want to dye in a different color. However, the thing to note here is the color you want to dye must be the same or a lighter one. Because it is not possible to dye dark colors to light colors.

All types of fabrics can be dyed with fabric dyes except the ones containing polyester.

Before dyeing, you need to remove the stains on your fabric. It is important for the clothes to be clean so that the dyeing can be done correctly. Before the procedure, you should wash them with warm and soapy water. Thus, dye absorption will be better.

If you want to dye the fabric by hand, you must use gloves for this. Because dye also contains chemicals, which can cause allergies on your hands.

Using a cover on the area you will dye will prevent possible spills.

Fill a plastic container or sink with water to dye the fabric. The ideal temperature of the water should be 60°C. If the tap water does not reach the ideal temperature, you can heat water on a stove.

Dissolve the powder dye with hot water in a plastic container. Add a cup of salt if dyeing fabrics containing cotton, linen, rayon, and ramie to increase coloring. For fabrics containing nylon, silk or wool, you can add a glass of vinegar. You can add 1 teaspoon of dish soap to support the dyeing process.

Pour the dissolved powder dye into the dyebath and mix well. You can test the dyebath with a paper towel. If the color is too light, you can add more dye to reach the color you want. If the color is too dark, you can add more water.

Put the wet fabric into the dyebath and stir continuously. Stirring helps to distribute the dye evenly onto the fabric. Soak it in the dye bath for at least 30 minutes to allow the color of the garment to set.

Remove the fabric from dyebath when desired color is achieved. Since the fabric is wet, it will provide a darker appearance. The color will become lighter as it dries.

After dyeing your fabric by hand, you can use FISKE FABRIC DYE FIXER. In this way, you will prevent your dye from running.
